“Worship”

What does it mean to worship you, Lord?

What is it that attracts your heart?

Is it focused attention on you?

Or is it simply from the start—

Of when we sacrifice for others

In the big things and the small?

Or in the good, bad and the ugly

We surrender to you it all.

What does it mean to worship you?

Is it how we spend our lives?

Sharing what we’re born to do,

Is this what makes you smile?

Or what about our full devotion,

Our “Yes” to your commands?

Is obedience the same as love

Does it show you where we stand?

What does it mean to worship you?

Is it in our serenade?

Or are you only enjoying our presence

While melody and harmony fade?

What does it mean to worship you?

Is it gratitude and thankfulness?

Is that what gets your attention—

When our complaining comes to rest?

Worship is through all these things,

No matter what we do,

As long as we do them to your glory,

That’s what our worship means to you.

“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
